The Puck Fair Monument

As you approach Killorglin from the Killarney direction one of the first landmarks you will see is a large statue of a goat. Now you know you are in Killorglin and this is actually a tribute to a 3 day festival in August in which Killorglin is world famous. It’s called Puck Fair and is held annually on the 10th, 11th and 12th of August. The fair is held in honor of the Puck goat who legend has it protected the town of Killorglin from the British Imperialists attack by alerting the town folk to their impending arrival. This monument offers one of the best photo opportunites for tourists as you have the county bridge, river laune and town in the background. Yet again a cost free attraction of Killorglin Town.
